Aims, contents and method of the course

The seminar corresponds thematically with the -Übung in Molekularer Genetik und Pathologie- (Zellbiologie) and aims at understanding the most recent progress in cancer research by discussing the literature. Topics are the various aspects of cancer development.

Assessment and permitted materials

Evaluation of presentations and contribution to discussions.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The seminar deepens the knowledge about the molecular mechanisms of cell-cell interaction, tumor-stroma interaction, cell signaling, invasion of tumor cells, cancer stemness and metastatic colonization. A particular focus is the critical discussion of published data and improvement of presentation skills.

Examination topics

Presentation of original scientific articles using Powerpoint-Slides. Discussion of research data in the context of the literature.

Reading list

Original articles from highly renowned scientific journals and recent reviews on relevant topics.
