Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
This lecture course is focused on the molecular mechanisms of classical genetics. The following topics will be covered:- Model organisms and their genomes- Genome sequencing- Mendel genetics and deviations- Molecular principles of meiosis- Molecular mechanisms of homologous recombination- Genetic mapping- DNA organisation: chromatin- Climate change and meiosisI understand that there are good reasons not being able to attend a lecture unit (overlap with other courses or exams; illness; obligation to work; obligation to look after kids….). I will send a mp4 recording of a lecture upon request (via email) provided a good reason is brought forward. In any case, lecture slides (pdf format) will be available after each lecture via Moodle.
Assessment and permitted materials
Written exam with a variable proportion of open questions, "multiple choice" questions and arithmetic tasks.
