Aims, contents and method of the course
Participants present and critically discuss recent literature in the area of stem cell biology.
Assessment and permitted materials
Compulsory attendance; the evaluation consists of different performances: quality and completeness of the seminar presentation, active participation in the scientific discussion of the presented publications, written records (the percentage of the subgrades will be announced by the course leader); each of the subgrades must have a positive evaluation.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
For the assessment of the performance, the following criteria are used:
Attendance and Presentation of a topic that is largely correct (grade: 4)
Plausible structure of the presentation; ability to select subtopics of particular relevance; ability to answer selected questions to the presentation (grade: 3)
Ability to weigh different arguments; constructive participation in the scientific and conceptional discussion of presentations made by the other participants (grade: 2)
Ability to critically evaluate the arguments presented in a publication; ability to think conceptually, e.g. by referring to controversies or follow-up work; own ideas for addressing open questions (grade: 1)
