Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Cellular Microbiology. Scope: Understanding of the interactions between multicellular host and microorganisms at molecular and cellular level; Responses of host cells to microbes and changes in properties of Microbes upon contact with the host cell; understanding of the causes, pathogenesis, spreading, therapy and prevention of infectious diseases.

Assessment and permitted materials

Written exam

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Participants have understood the principles of host-pathogen interactions. This includes: the methods used to study host-pathogen interactions; the pathogen-induced processes governing entry into the host and host colonization; the reaction of the host to pathogens; the mechanisms whereby the microorganisms bypass the immune system; the mechanisms that trigger pathogen and host-induced disease symptoms.
Maximum points: 20. Usually 4 questions, 5 points/question
Grading key: <10 = 5, >10 - 12.5 = 4, >12.5 - 15 = 3, >15 - 17.5 = 2, >17.5 - 20 = 1
