Aims, contents and method of the course

The mechanistic understanding of biological processes is the main focus of Molecular Biology. But Molecular Biology stretches from the molecules that form the cell, the organization within cells, the molecular machines that perform the work in the cells, the signaling molecules that communicate within the cells and to the surrounding tissue and finally to the organization of cells within the organism. This lecture series explores common concepts that shape the cells and the organism using selected examples from different areas of Molecular Biology. The main goal is to establish a baseline to allow students gain insights from different fields within Molecular Biology.
