Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The lecture will offer an introductory/comprehensive overview about theoretical concepts and experimental approaches in classical and modern neuroscience research. Students will receive sound knowledge in a variety of disciplines including the molecular and cellular mechanisms of neuronal communication, the development of neuronal cell types and their assembly in complex neural circuits, principles in sensory and motor system organization, comparative approaches in evolutionary neurobiology and the neural substrate of higher cognitive functions. Students with backgrounds in different fields of natural sciences will be able to understand and appreciate the significance of basic neuroscience research in a broader context of animal and human behavior and clinical brain disorders.
