Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Selected publications from the current biological literature will be presented by the students and discussed. Focus of the seminar will be papers which are based on state-of-the-art instrumental analytics and investigating biological and biomedical questions at a proteome-, metabolome-, interactome- and genome-wide level. The basic principles of the technologies will be presented and explained by me in short lectures. The publications will be basis for discussions of the addressed biological question and the applied experimental strategies.
Assessment and permitted materials
Presentation of the selected papers and participation in the discussion of the presented scientific piece of work
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Students will improve their understanding of modern methods and data interpretation in biological research. In addition the ability to judge the potential, pitfalls and limitations of the diverse technological approaches will be trained. The presented publications will be used to discuss and critically reflect experimental strategies as well as approaches to present results.
