Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

During this practical course the participants will deal with selected examples of experiments related to the field of molecular microbiology. The methods used are mainly, but not exclusively those acquired during their studies. Design and execution of experiments, documentation and discussion of results have to be summarized in a protocol. Topic: Post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression in bacteria, protein-protein-, RNA-protein-, RNA-RNA-interactions.

Assessment and permitted materials

Compulsory attendance; the evaluation consists of different performances: active participation and results obtained, written report, theoretical knowledge including final exam (the percentage of the subgrades will be announced by the course leader); each of the subgrades must have a positive evaluation.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Compulsory attendance;
- active participation (discussion contributions, participation, ….): 20%
- results of the performed experiments: 10%
- theoretical understanding and practical knowledge of the methods used: 15%
- documentation and interpretation of the results: 15%
- written final report (bachelor thesis): 40%
