Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
This lecture course is an introduction into the development of animals and plants. On the one hand, the lecture introduces into general principles of development, on the other hand, it highlights differences in development between organisms such as Drosophila, planarians, annelids, see urchin, chicken, mouse, zebrafish or axolotl. The plant Arabidopsis is used to demonstrate some characteristics of plant development and the basic differences to animals. The lecture course familiarizes the participants with critical concepts of organismal developmental biology (such as different regeneration mechanisms), while also bridging to research into the molecular mechanisms.
