Aims, contents and method of the course

During ca. 12 afternoons 7 experiments have to be done, to learn fundamental organic chemical working operations such as extraction, distillation, recrystallization and precise dispensing of liquids by volume and accurate weighing of masses. The specific experiments will help to understand better important concepts like hydrophilicity and lipophilicity, nucleophilicity and electrophilicity as well as the properties of amino acids, peptides and carbohydrates.Furthermore certain experiments are specifically designed to learn precision working methods and the working with tiny substance amounts.
