Aims, contents and method of the course

The lecture series Bioanalytical chemistry will cover methods for characterization of biomolecules:
- Size exclusion chromatography
- Static light scattering coupled to size exclusion chromatography (SEC/MALS)
- Dynamic light scattering (DLS)
- Differential scanning fluorimetry (Thermofluor) (DSF)
- Methods for detection and qualification of proteins
- Separation by centrifugation
- Overview of 3D Structure Methods based on X-ray scattering and diffraction

Assessment and permitted materials

Written exam

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Attendance and active participation during the lecture course, >60% correct answers during exam for passing grade.

Assessment criteria:
100-90%: excellent (1)
89-80%: good (2)
79-70%: satisfactory (3)
69-60%: sufficient (4)
< 59%: insufficient (5)

Reading list

A list of possible textbooks will be presented in the first lecture. Additional references are given throughout the lectures.
