Classes

Dear participants of the SE "Advanced Techniques in Molecular Microbiology (WS23)"!

Please find below information regarding the modus / requirements for the SE.
You are allocated to the supervisors Bläsi, Görke Moll and Witte as indicated in the attached list of the participants.

Please select by your own methodological- and research papers in “Molecular Microbiology” that you deem to contain “Advanced techniques” in the field.

To do so, you can search "pubmed" for recent issues of either Methodology journals / Mol. Microbiology journals such as:
Biotechniques, Methods of Microbiology and Molecular Biology, Journal of Microbiology. Methods, Nature Methods, Methods in Mol. Biol., Molecular Microbiology, Frontiers in Microbiology, J. Bacteriology................

Pls. send by e-mail to your supervisor, the latest until January-3-24, three suggestions, i.e. 3 articles describing different state of the art methods plus 3 “corresponding” research papers, wherein the respective method has been applied to tackle a particular research question. She/he will then select together with you for the presentation one methodological paper and the “corresponding” research article, wherein the method has been applied.

You are requested to prepare a 20 to 25 min presentation. The presentation should contain in the "Introduction" extended background information on the "Advanced technique". In the second part you should present a study, in which this technique was applied to answer a particular research question. Pls. also highlight how this technique can/has advance(d) the science in the field of “Molecular Microbiology”. You are requested to send your presentation (power point) the latest until January 19-2023 to your supervisor.

The presentations will take place as scheduled below. The presence of all participants is compulsory at either date.

Schedule:
January 24-24, 11:30 -14:00 /SR-4120/ 4th floor / BZB: presenters allocated to Bläsi
January 26-24, 12:00 -14:30 /SR-4120 / 4th floor / BZB: “ “ Moll
January 26-24, 15:00 -17:30 /SR-4120/ 4th floor / BZB: “ “ Witte
January 29-24 10:00 – 12:30/SR 6507/ 6th floor / BZB: “ “ Görke
