These internships can be carried out in ANY molecular biology-related research labs of your choice at the institutes of campus Vienna Biocenter, research institutes in Vienna and beyond (also internationally) or in R&D laboratories of for-profit industrial partners. DO NOT ALLOCATE POINTS FOR THESE INTERNSHIPS! THERE IS NO REGISTRATION DEADLINE FOR THESE INTERNSHIPS; registrations are possible throughout the year by filling out the registration form available at https://molekularebiologie.univie.ac.at/en/lab-internships/scientific-practice/and forwarding it for approval to the coordinator. Aims, contents and method of the course

Practical course that leads to an introduction to scientific laboratory practice and allows participants to carry out their own research as part of their master's thesis.
Registration: directly with one of the group leaders

Assessment and permitted materials

Assessment of all experiments, techniques and results, the written protocol and the presentation of the work performed by the supervisor. The SPL or the coordinator of the Scientific Practice may additionally request a written report for assessment.

The project report should follow the usual IMRaD (Introduction, Methods, Results and Discussion) structure and include explicitly formulated research question(s) or working hypothesis, description of the empirical findings and conservative conclusions. Other aspects of the report (length, level of details, reference format, etc) should be done according to the criteria and instructions set up by the project supervisor. The report should be drawn within a maximum of two months after the completion of the experimental work and handed in to the supervising group leader for feedback, including suggestions for improving.
