Scientific Practice I and II are internships (lab rotations) in individual research labs (PLEASE IGNORE THE LIST OF LECTURERS; check the link below about finding participating labs), aimed at training students in scientific method and various research techniques in the context of research questions/hypotheses addressed in the chosen lab. These internships can be carried out in ANY molecular biology-related research labs of your choice at the institutes of campus Vienna Biocenter, research institutes in Vienna and beyond (also internationally) or in R&D laboratories of for-profit industrial partners. DO NOT ALLOCATE POINTS FOR THESE INTERNSHIPS! THERE IS NO REGISTRATION DEADLINE FOR THESE INTERNSHIPS; registrations are possible throughout the year by filling out the registration form available at https://molekularebiologie.univie.ac.at/en/lab-internships/scientific-practice/and forwarding it for approval to the coordinator. Aims, contents and method of the course

Practical course that leads to an introduction to scientific laboratory practice and allows participants to carry out their own research as part of their master's thesis.
Registration: directly with one of the group leaders

Assessment and permitted materials

Assessment by the supervisor of all techniques and results of the experiments and presentation of the work performed

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Compulsory attendence. The participants should be able to apply techniques which are necessary for the completion of their master thesis.

Examination topics

The participants will be involved in ongoing research projects of the participating groups.
