Aims, contents and method of the course

ECTS: 6
Introduction: definition, research in pharmacognosy. Plant and animal
kingdom as sources of drugs: production of herbal medicinal drugs
(cultivation, propagation, plant breeding, collecting and harvesting,
preservation, storage, sterilization, extraction, quality control).
Phytochemistry: chemistry of pharmacologically active compounds of
biological origin, biosynthesis. Pharmacopoeial and related drugs of
biological origin, herbal medicinal products: legal basics, interesting
and current problems and applications, examples for indications.
Recombinant drugs: definition, production, cytokines, hormones,
coagulation modifiers, recombinant antibodies Vaccines, Antibiotics.
