Aims, contents and method of the course
"Women's rights are human rights" - this massage was for the first time explicitly stated by the international community at the UN Human Rights World Conference 1993 in Vienna. Nevertheless, woman world-wide suffer violations of their basic human rights. In this seminar, several relevant aspects of the current situation of women will be examined, including: regional and international women's rights standards and mechanisms for their implementation; violence against women/trafficking in women/women in decision-making processes/impact of armed conflict/women and labour market/concept of affirmative action. Course will be held in English and the participants are supposed to prepare seminar papers and present them in class.
