This is an introductory course in principles of cell biology essential in pharmacology. A series of lectures and small group sessions designed to illustrate the principles of cellular functions and methods used in cell biology and to introduce students to the use, advantages, and pitfalls of transgenic animal models in pharmacological research. The course integrates interactive learning focused on the mechanisms of drug action taught in the "Pharmacology and Toxicology" course.The small group sessions offer an extended interaction with faculty member on a topic selected by the student.
