Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The pharmaceutical industry has produced impressive breakthrough medicines such as, insulin, first in class vaccines, antibiotics, retroviral and cancer therapies that have significantly impacted our society. Furthermore, rapid advances in technology, and infrastructure have resulted due to advancing R & D needs throughout the evolving process of designing new therapies. However, the industry has been criticized during the last decade for its lack of innovation. What exactly does ‘lack of innovation’ mean? Clearly the need to ‘be innovative’ is obvious. However, the process of finding novel solutions to problems, recognizing good ideas that meet needs and produce disruptive technologies or services to the market is extremely challenging.
