Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Objective: The objective of the course is to teach the student the basic principles of oganic chemistry and nomenclature.
Content: Atomic orbitals –covalent bondings – stereochemistry; saturated and unsaturated carbohydrates, alkyl halides, alcohols, phenols, ether, sulfur containing compounds, aldehydes, ketones, carboxylic acids and derivatives, carbonic acid and derivatives; M- and I-effects, energetics and kinetics, acids and bases; reaction mechanisms (nucleophilic substitution, elimination, carbon-heteroatom-bondings, substitution reactions at aromatic systems, oxidations, reductions, rearrangement reactions, fuctional group interconversion, syntheses of heterocycles.
Nomenclature of organic compounds.
