The objective of the course is to give the students knowledge of scientific research methods.
Experimental work in fragrance and flavour chemistry. The scientific topics comprise the synthesis of anticancer drugs, selective adenosine antagonists as PET-diagnostics and other biologically active N-heteroaromatic compounds. Furthermore NMR techniques are applied to pharmaceutical compounds.
In vitro and in vivo drug metabolism: recombinant enzymes, transfected cells, human cancer cell lines, tumor tissues, plasma and blood of patients, PCR, enzyme kinetics, pharmakogenetics, pharmacokinetics of drug and its metabolites, prediction of drug/drug interactions, identification of the chemical structure of novel biotransformation products, screening of the activity of novel metabolites.
The diplomandes are trained to use scientific PC-software and chemical data bases and to write scientific papers.
