triglycerides, eicosanoids, trans-unsaturated fatty acids and so on.
According to that, bioorganic properties of lipoids are a subject too.
Lipoids are divided into phospholipids, glycolipids monoterpenes,
carotenoids, terpenoides and steroids. Furthermore, the chemical and
physico-chemical properties of vitamin A, vitamin E and vitamin K are
taught. The chapter of steroids entails the chemical and biological
properties of bile acids, sterols, secosteroids, corticoid hormones and
steroid glycosides etc..
The discussion of carbohydrates involves monosaccharides and disaccharides.
The chemical properties of polysaccharides will be taught too, as far as
those substances are important in pharmaceutical use.
The chapter amino acids is divided into several subunits like aliphatic
amino acids or aromatic amino acids to name some examples. The attention is
focussed on the pharmaceutical relevance.
In addition to that, the chemical and biological impact of nucleic acids
will be taught.
In general, special interest lies in the stereochemical properties of all
these bio-molecules.
