Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Based on the pharmacological knowledge already acquired, the students will deal in depth with the following topics in this exercise:
-) Principles of clinical-pharmaceutical care
-) Causes, symptoms, diagnosis and guideline-compliant therapy of various diseases, taking laboratory parameters into account
-) Identification of drug-related problems caused by potentially inadequate medication, including self-medication (drug interactions, side effects, application errors and adherence)
-) Dosing of drugs taking into account special patient needs

This exercise is offered in 4 modules with the following content:
-) Module 1: Introduction to medication analysis, laboratory diagnostics and hypertension
-) Module 2: heart failure, myocardial infarction and respiratory diseases
-) Module 3: Atrial fibrillation and stroke prophylaxis; Thrombosis and embolism prophylaxis; Dyslipidemias and lipid lowering agents, pharmaceutical management of diabetes mellitus

The individual modules (1-3) are each composed of introductory lectures and workshops. During the workshops, case studies are worked on either in plenary sessions or in small groups. The exercise concludes with a thesis in the nature of an examination, where the knowledge acquired from all modules is applied. Assessment and permitted materials

-) Module 1-3: Application of knowledge to a specific case study appropriate to the topic
-) At the end of each module, the associated basic knowledge is held in the form of an examination

-) After module 3, complex case studies are given in 2 units (held on 2 different dates)
-) Written exam

Permitted resources: guidelines, specialist information and interaction software

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

-) presence (≥ 70%)
-) Module 1-3: participation (max. 20 points per module)
-) Written exam (max. 40 points), online

The points achieved in the partial performance are added up, with at least half of the points to be achieved in each partial performance. The total number of points determined gives the overall grade.

Total possible number of points: 100 points
At least 50% (= at least 50 points) are required for a positive assessment.
