The lecture will take place in seminar room 2D313 (UZA2) Thursdays from 8h45-10h15 at the following dates: 2.3., 9.3., 16.3., 23.3., 30.3., 27.4., 4.5., 11.5.. (backup dates: 25.5., 8.6., 15.6., 22.6.). Please send an e-mail with ‘322054-1 VO Human Gene Therapy’ in the header to m.ogris@univie.ac.at. So you will be signed in into the moodle course already by end of February and will have access to the lecture notes already for the first lecture on March, 2nd.

Aims, contents and method of the course
Introduction to gene therapy, gene delivery vectors (viral, non-viral, physical delivery methods), expression vectors, molecular cloning, relevant immunology for the field, genome engineering, gene knockdown, genetic vaccinations, mRNA technologies, regulated transgene expression, vector-host interaction, principles of macromolecular delivery, examples of monogenetic diseases and gene therapy approaches, current pre-clinically and clinically evaluated and approved gene therapies and genetic vaccines, approved gene therapy approaches, cancer gene therapy, oncolytic vectors, CAR-T cell therapies.
