Aims, contents and method of the course

1) Introduction into the Basics
Radioactive Decay and their Application for Diagnostics and Therapy, Radionuclide Production in a Medical Context, Ideal Properties of Radiopharmaceuticals, Radiobiology and Radiation Safety
2) Approved radiopharmaceuticals for SPECT and Therapy
Overview on approved radiopharmaceuticals for SPECT and their mode of action
3) Approved radiopharmaceuticals for PET and Therapy
Overview on approved radiopharmaceuticals for PET and their mode of action
4) Dosage forms, pharmaceutical packaging of radiopharmaceuticals
Radiopharmaceutical aspects including dosage forms, dose definition for diagnostics and therapeutics, dosimetry, and the respective labeling and packaging for radiopharmaceuticals
5) Formulation and role of excipients in parenteral radiopharmaceutical preparations
Overview, importance and regulatory on excipients in radiopharmaceuticals
6) Module-to-kit development
Aspects of pharmaceutical technology for the module-to-kit development
7) Requirements for radiopharmaceutical quality control
Exercise on quality control and time-efficency
8) Quality assurance, SOPs, Good Manufacturing Practice of Radiopharmaceuticals, Radiopharmaceuticals and the European Pharmacopoeia
