Introduction to nanotechnology, nanomaterials and nanoscale (within the context of biotechnology and biopharmaceutics)- basic concepts and definitions.Introduction to nanomedicine (within the general context of biomedical applications and with special focus on nucleic acid therapy and bioimaging)- general concepts, definitions, claims and scope, pharmaceutical and biomedical applications, changing landscape of pharmaceuticals containing nanomaterials, nanomedicine/nanomaterial platforms for nucleic acid therapy and bioimaging applications, selected examples of nanomedicine platforms under pre-clinical trials/clinical trials/clinical use, biological challenges faced by nanomedicines, physicochemical and biological characterization techniques for relevant nanopharmaceutics.
