Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This is an introductory course on nanomedicine, with special focus on nucleic acid therapy and bioimaging. Nanomedicine is an upcoming field which is impacting health sciences significantly by developing new nano-pharmaceuticals and investigating the associated challenges.

The course will cover the following topics:-
Introduction to nanotechnology, nanomaterials and nanoscale (within the context of biotechnology and biopharmaceutics)- basic concepts and definitions.

Introduction to nanomedicine (within the general context of biomedical applications and with special focus on nucleic acid therapy and bioimaging)- general concepts, definitions, claims and scope, pharmaceutical and biomedical applications, changing landscape of pharmaceuticals containing nanomaterials, nanomedicine/nanomaterial platforms for nucleic acid therapy and bioimaging applications, selected examples of nanomedicine platforms under pre-clinical trials/clinical trials/clinical use, biological challenges faced by nanomedicines, physicochemical and biological characterization techniques for relevant nanopharmaceutics.
