Aims, contents and method of the course
With the growing number of aging people worldwide, cognitive decline has become a significant public health concern that impacts everyday life. This course will explore the mechanisms underlying cognitive aging, recent pharmacological interventions, and evidence-based approaches for managing cognitive decline.The following points will be addressed:- Introduction to cognitive aging, structural and neurochemical changes- normal cognitive aging versus pathological conditions like Alzheimer's disease and other dementias- behavioural changes associated with cognitive aging- scientific approaches and models to study cognitive aging- current therapeutic options, including non-pharmacological interventions and pharmacological treatments; pharmacological targets- challenges and limitations of interventions in mitigating cognitive decline
