Introduction into the 3Rs world and concepts (EU initiatives and regulations, topic animal experiment numbers, 3Rs centers, data bases, conferences, topics, ethics,..), Reproducibility crisis of biomedical science (in vitro/in vivo correlations, species differences), overview about the lecture

Christian Studenik:
Examples of in vitro alternatives (endotoxin test vs. pyrogen test in rabbits, BCOP Testing - Bovine Corneal Opacity/Permeability Assay, HET-CAM vs. Draize-Test)
Organtoxicity

Beate Rinner: Improved preclinical Imaging and applications for refinement and reduction (cell tracking, contrast agents, ultrasound guided injection), human autologous tumor models and orthotopic mouse models.

Regina Grillari:
Good Cell Culture Practice GCCP1.0 and 2.0 and Good In Vitro Method Practice GIVIMP; ethical requirements for work with human cells and tissues, risk assessment when working with human cell cultures, quality control testings and standardization of in vitro cell culture work
Comparison of primary cells, in vitro immortalized cells, tumor cells, advantages and disadvantages of these different cell systems
