In this course, you will be introduced to three important topics covering the design of new medications for inhalation:
1. The biopharmaceutics of drug delivery to the lung,
2. considerations for designing a new oral inhaled drug product, and
3. testing the aerosol performance of an inhaled product.

The activities and schedule are described below. Each section provides additional information on the activities we will perform together and on each activity's contribution to the overall marks.

Aims, contents and method of the course

In this course you will be introduced to three important topics covering the design of new medications for inhalation: 1) The biopharmaceutics of drug delivery to the lung, 2) considerations for designing a new oral inhaled drug product, and 3) testing aerosol performance of an inhaled product. The activities and schedule are described below. Following this, each section provides additional information on the activities we will perform together, as well as the contributions of each activity to the overall marks.

Assessment and permitted materials

Lab work - 30%
Data analysis - 20%
Project "Design your ideal inhaler" - 50% of the final mark

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

A minimum of 50% muss be achieved to pass.
