Aims, contents and method of the course

Introduction to physiology, physiological systems, homeostasis
Communication, nervous system, endocrine system, sensory physiology
Musculo-skeletal system, control of body movement
Cardiovascular physiology
Integrative physiology: digestive system, metabolism and energy balance, endocrine control of metabolism, appetite and food intake

Assessment and permitted materials

Final written exam, 90 min (multiple choice, minimu requirement: 60%)

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Students will understand the basics in human physiology, i.e. renal, and cardiovascular physiology as well as the physiology of the nervous system, the skeleto-muscular system, the digestive system, and metabolism. They will understand the interactions and interdependencies between the cellular, tissue, and organ levels as a prerequisite to comprehend the importance of the ensuing major subjects in nutritional sciences.
