Aims, contents and method of the course

Objectives
Students will understand the basics in human physiology. They will understand the interactions and interdependencies between the cellular, tissue, and organ levels as a prerequisite to comprehend the importance of the ensuing major subjects in nutritional sciences.

Contents
Introduction to physiology, physiological systems, homeostasis
Communication, endocrine system, nervous systen, sensory physiology
Cardiovascular physiology, pathophysiology of the cardiovascular system, physiological modeling by the example of cardiovascular physiology
Integrative physiology: metabolism and energy balance, endocrine control of metabolism, appetite and food intake

Methods
Power point presentations will be available via LMS
Journal articles and reviews on current topics of human physiology after prior announcement

Assessment and permitted materials

Final written exam, 90 min (multiple choice)

at least 60% of maximum points to pass the exam
