Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The course amends the theoretical background of the students regarding the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats and proteins with laborchemical analyses and anthropometical measurements in order to determine the body composition. To write a term paper is the first insight into scientific writing and literature search.

Assessment and permitted materials

Laboratory results (30 %), anthropometry (15 %), final exam (40%, multiple choice/ open questions/ chemical calculating) and term paper(15 %). At least 60% of all points must be achieved in order to pass the course

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Independent and accurate analysis of unknown samples; determination of body composition; to succed a literature search; to write a term paper

Examination topics

Wet-chemical quantitative analyses using photometry;
anthropometical measurements: bodt fat balance, caliper, BIA, BodPod.
literature search; write a term paper
