Aims, contents and method of the course

Objectives:
The students learn about selected research fields of home economics and the science of the household so they can apply this knowledge independently in situations close to everyday life. Furthermore, the basics of knowledge transfer in the field of household-related education and research will be acquired. The students of this lecture also acquire an understanding of the private household as an independent economic unit that is networked with its environment and dependent on economic and social developments.

Contents:
History of the private household, private household as an economic unit (household life cycle, household (start-up) costs, child costs - state transfer payments, household poverty, consumer behaviour with regard to sustainable consumption), private household and socio-economic aspects (care work, gender care gap), household-related and social interdependencies (institutional support services), requirements for household-related educational and everyday skills.

Method:
Selected research fields of economics and work organisation of the household are presented as a lecture extended with interaction-promoting activities, via BigBlueButton and in the form of PowerPoint presentations.

The detailed programme will be presented at the beginning of the semester.

- Time allowed for the question: 90 minutes

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

minimum requirement:
A minimum score of 10.25 points is required for a positive evaluation.

3: 12.5 - 14.5 points
4: 10.25 - 12.25 points
5: 0.0 - 10.0 points
