Aims, contents and method of the course

Nutritional therapy of common diseases not presented in previous lectures will be presented after a short introduction on epidemiology, pathophysiology and general therapy of the diseases.
Topics: Medical/surgical treatment of obesity; update metabolic syndrome/diabetes; atherosclerosis; gastroenterologic diseases: Lactose/Fructose intolerance; update celiac disease; inflammatory bowel diseases, irritable bowel disease; liver diseases, cholelithiasis; chronic renal failure, urolithiasis, single neurologic diseases; Cancer: update, artificial nutrition: enteral/parenteral nutrition; probiotics, immunonutrition

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Knowledge on nutritional therapy of common and important diseases.
Pass mark being 55%.
