Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Aims: Overview on the European and national research funding landscape; understanding of principles and key actors in the generation of research programmes, calls for proposals, evaluation and management of research projects as well as „do’s and don’ts“ for a competitive proposal

Content: The acquisition of funding is important for scientists to finance their research activities. Besides national funding possibilities, European and international funding programmes play an increasingly significant role. The EU framework programme is the largest research funding programme of its kind in the world, with a strong influence on national research policies and funding, also in the areas of nutrition and health. This course provides an overview on European research funding and its mechanisms, focussing on the EU framework programme, as well as practical knowledge and hands on training for writing successful applications. Many of these aspects are also of high relevance for national funding programmes, which are also briefly presented.
