Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Molecular methods in molecular nutrition, food microbiology and probiotics: Microbiota, 16S rDNA, DGGE, qPCR, cloning, sequencing, sequence analysis.
Assessment and permitted materials
Participants are asked to hand in a protocol of the experiments.
Furthermore participants will present a scientific article, a selection of which had been distributed via email preceding the course.
Furthermore participants will present a scientific article, a selection of which had been distributed via email preceding the course.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Molecular methods will be applied to elucidate food and diet relevant questions. Backgroundinformation will be given in theory-blocks throughout the course. Students will give presentations on further readings. Diet and its effects on the human immune system, regulation of gene expression and diverse influences on the human gastro-intestinal microbiota will be discussed on a molecular level.
