ACHTUNG: Die Vorlesung wird wie folgt abgehalten:

Die Lehrveranstaltung besteht aus einer einführenden Einheit am 06. März 2018, in der der gesamte Stoff als Skriptum zur Verfügung gestellt und die geplante Durchführung der Lehrveranstaltung vorgestellt wird.

Zu den wählbaren Prüfungsterminen im März, Mai und Juli werden vor der Prüfung jeweils zwei Vorlesungs- (=Vorbereitungs)termine angeboten, siehe Termine.

Der Besuch der Einführung am 06.03.2018 wird dringend empfohlen, da hier der Ablauf genau besprochen wird.

Aims, contents and method of the course

Introductory statistics course with examples taken from nutrition science: exploratory data analysis, basic probability, estimation and hypothesis testing, simple regression, experimental design.
Goals include familiarity with basic statistical methods and statistical thinking, ability to interpret statistical results, learn about common misconceptions and errors when applying statistical methods

The course consists of an introductory lesson on 6 March 2018, where the entire scope of the course will be presented including slides.
All further lesson will take place before each examination date. We will discuss theory and background of statistical methods as well as questions from the audience. All students are welcome to attend these lessons, independently of taking part in the exam.

Assessment and permitted materials

oral exam
the procedure of the exam is the following: exam questions will be made available on moodle 3 weeks ahead of the exam. These questions are discussed within the oral exam including the solutions themselves, interpretations of the solutions and statistical backgrounds.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

at least 50% of questions have to be answered. A question is counted as answered if the the correct answer is given and justified
