Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Consecutive interpreting from Spanish and English into German. We will be working with a variety of speeches, ranging from the European Union to Latin American politics and sports.

Assessment and permitted materials

There will be no final exam, but ongoing evaluation throughout the semester. In order for your teacher to evaluate your performance and progress, attending all classes is key.
Grades: 40% participation, 30% homework, 30% Speechpool speeches.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

One of the main objectives of this class is for students to reach a good note-taking technique. In addition, we will be working on presentation skills and verbal expression.

Also, we will talk about the business of interpreting and the level required to work at international institutions, especially the European Union.

Examination topics

Students will be asked to turn in homework via the learning platform Moodle. It is imperative that students practice at home for maximum benefit. In addition to relying on Moodle as an information and communication tool, we will be using the web site www.speechpool.net to practice at home and to prepare speeches to share with your fellow students.
