Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Learning objectives: (1) to help students improve their listening comprehension and discussion skills; (2) to raise students' awareness of oral communication processes; (3) to hone students' speaking skills with a focus on the communication situation and text organization
Course content: developing listening comprehension strategies, critical listening and discussion skills, as well as producing spoken and written texts embedded in a specific communication situation
Teaching/learning methods (didactics): in-class listening, speaking, and writing activities (individual, pair, and group work), online activities, home assignments in oral comprehension and text production
Students will be asked to give structured feedback to their colleagues (peer review) and reflect on their own progress.

Assessment and permitted materials

Mid-term test (30%), end-of-term test (30%), home assignments (20%), participation in class and online activities (20%).

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Attendance is mandatory (two absences will be allowed).
An advanced level of both oral and written English is required.
Passing grade: 60%
Grading scale: ≥90% = 1, ≥80% = 2, ≥70% = 3, ≥60% = 4

Examination topics

Evaluation will be based on the genres and exercise formats used in class (audio and video materials).
