If you miss more than two classes (with good reason) during the semester, you will receive a semester grade of 5. You must attend all classes of both lecturers regardless of your language combination.

Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Contents: You will continue to improve your proficiency in consecutive interpreting, building on what you have learned in Consecutive Interpreting I. Source texts will include student presentations and discussions. Memory exercises and the analysis of your notes will help you improve your consecutive interpreting technique.
Methods: Research and terminology work at home, holding and interpreting speeches, peer feedback, critical reflection on your own work, recording and analysing your interpretations, practicing outside class, feedback on and grading of interpretations by the lecturers.
Aims: Improving your interpreting technique and presentation, developing your personal note-taking technique, expanding your vocabulary in your source and target languages, acquiring knowledge about the topics discussed.

Assessment and permitted materials

Continuous assessment of course work. Your grade is determined by participation in class (participation in discussions, exercises, feedback), the grades you receive for your interpretations, and homework (to be handed in on time).
- interpretations: 36%
- participation in class (giving your colleagues feedback, participating in discussions and exercises, holding presentations): 28%
- homework (research, terminology research, self-reflection, etc.): 36%

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Active participation, homework, interpretations.
Interpretations will be graded on the critera presentation (presentation style, nonverbal communication, voice), form (terminology, style, other linguistic aspects) and content (correctness and coherence).
