Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Content:
Reading comprehension strategies and reading-based writing skills. Students will acquire text analysis methods that enable them to understand and discuss texts as communicative events.
Objectives:
Improvement of reading comprehension and text-based writing skills with a focus on exploring different types of meaning, organizing texts and integrating sources.
Methods:
In-class reading and writing activities (individual, pair, and group work), online activities, assignments in reading comprehension and text production.

Assessment and permitted materials

Assessment will be based on the following:
- Written assignments (40%)
- Mid-term test (20%)
- Final test (30%)
- Participation in class and in online activities (10%)
Each student will be allowed to use one monolingual dictionary during the tests (no electronic devices).

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Grading scale:
90-100%: 1
80-89%: 2
70-79%: 3
60-69%: 4
< 60%: 5 (fail)

Examination topics

Both tests will be based on the text types and exercise formats used in class and in the written assignments.
