On 18 October at 11:30, there will be an introductory meeting for the joint project with legal translation (Mag. Scheidl) and subtitling (Mag. Fraller) on the film "Voices Uprising" (more information will be provided during our first class). If you are interested in participating in other parts of the project, you can sign up to one or both of their classes as well.
There will be a field trip on 15 November that might take a bit longer than the actual duration of the class. Please plan your semester accordingly.If you do not attend the first lesson without giving a good reason in advance, you will be de-registered from the course and your place will be given to the next person on the waiting list. If you are on the waiting list and interested in participating in my class, or if you have registered in the 2nd registration phase, I recommend you attend the first lesson.If you wish to de-register from this course, please do so by 31 October at the latest. After this time, it will not be possible for you to leave the course.
Continuous assessment of course work. If you miss more than two classes, you will receive a semester grade of 5.

Aims, contents and method of the course
Assessment and permitted materials
Continuous assessment of course work. Interpretations in class will be graded.Your grade is determined by the grades you receive for your interpretations in class (grades 1 to 5), participation in class (participation in discussions, speeches, feedback) and homework. If necessary, up to two interpreting grades may be acquired via assessments of interpreting performance (where all students interpret the same source text and record their interpretation).
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
To pass this course, you have to hold a presentation, interpret regularly (at least 4 substantial interpretions; if English is your B language, your interpretations into and from English need to be balanced, if English is your C language, you only need to interpret into German) and more than half of your interpreting performances must have a positive grade. Attendance is mandatory. You may miss two classes without providing a reason.The semester grade is composed of:
Interpretations (min. 4, the worst grade is not included): 90%
Homework and active participation (presentation, peer feedback): 10%Interpretations will be graded on the critera presentation (presentation style, nonverbal communication, voice), form (terminology, style, other linguistic aspects) and content (correctness and coherence).Grading:

80% 2
70% 3
60% 4
<60% 5 (fail)You may miss 2 classes with good reason.

The level of this class is intended for students who have successfully mastered the contents of Consecutive Interpreting I. It is recommended that students complete the exercises Note-Taking Technique and Consecutive Interpreting I successfully before attending this class.Methods: Research and terminology work at home, holding and interpreting speeches, sight translation, peer feedback, critical reflection on your own work, practicing outside class, feedback on and grading of interpretations by the lecturers.Aims: Improving your interpreting technique and presentation, developing your note-taking technique, expanding your vocabulary in your source and target languages, acquiring knowledge about the topics discussed.There will be a field trip in November.
