Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Oral expression of texts read and discussed in class and at home. A wide variety of texts from art historical over medical to internet texts will be covered. Emphasis on understanding, discussion and presentation

Assessment and permitted materials

Students will be graded on: attendance, participation, home work, quizes and presentation

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Improve individual comprehension and use of spoken English; emphasis on writing and presentation skills.

Examination topics

Oral presentation of various styles of texts - paraphrasing and expansion (explanation thereof); abstract writing; research of various topics and presenting the results in class such as an interview and short presentation); work in groups or individually. Adaptation and modification of source texts.

will be handed out in class or put on moodle platform. The course follows "How to Write It" by Sandra E. Lamb
