Aims, contents and method of the course

- Text analysis, functions, types and patterns
- Analysis of assignments/jobs and writing in accordance with specific assignments
- Discussion of effective/ineffective texts, text quality criteria
- Discussion of writing process(es)

Assessment and permitted materials

Assessment will be based on the following:
- Mid-term test;
- Final test;
- Completion of written assignments (semester portfolio).

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The objectives of this course are as follows:
- to help students improve their skills in text analysis as well as the identification and use of text patterns/conventions;
- to provide students with an opportunity to reflect on and apply various writing strategies;
- to raise students' awareness of the writing process and how it can be organized;
- to help students apply their language knowledge and writing skills appropriately in practice.

Examination topics

Students will achieve the course objectives by:
- analyzing and discussing authentic written texts;
- producing original written texts of various types on the basis of specific instructions;
- rewriting/adapting texts to suit different target groups / purposes.
