Aims, contents and method of the course

Translation theory and translation practice in everyday life. Identifying interfaces and/or gaps between translation theory and:
Globalisation
Localisation
Interdisciplinary communication and communicating scientific insights to the public
Natural translation and crowdsourcing
Literary translation
Etc.

Assessment and permitted materials

Participation in discussions; oral presentation; written assignment.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Identifying problems and possible solutions with regard to the disciplinary profile of Translation Studies in the public domain, job opportunities and the dissemination of translation theories and concepts in other disciplines.

Examination topics

Critical evaluation of translation theory with regard to practical examples researched in the course of the semester. Presentations and discussion.
