Bitte beachten Sie, dass die Termine am 12.11. und am 26.11. rein digital (über BB Collaborate) stattfinden. Sollten Sie sich zu dieser Zeit am ZTW befinden (z.B. weil Sie davor eine Präsenz-Einheit einer anderen LV besuchen), so können Sie den digitalen Einheiten im HS3 folgen.

Alle anderen Termine werden in Präsenz abgehalten, sofern die Pandemie dies zulässt.

UPDATE 22.11.: Aufgrund des Lockdowns muss jedenfalls der 10.12. als reine Digitaleinheit stattfinden. Zum 17.12. wurde bislang noch keine Entscheidung getroffen.

UPDATE 05.01.: Aufgrund der anhaltend unerfreulichen Covid-Situation werden auch die restlichen Einheiten dieses Semesters online stattfinden.

Aims, contents and method of the course

We will ...
... critically review what grammar is/can be (grammar theory)
... work on selected topics (e.g. tense review, conditionals, affixes, gerunds & infinitives, modal verbs, reported speech, relative clauses, the passive, ...)
... explore the relationship between grammatical and stylistic choices.

***Students are welcome (and very much encouraged) to suggest additional topics!***

The language of instruction is English.

Assessment and permitted materials

Two tests, two graded written assignments (stylistic analysis & essay); submissions of shorter texts are required for formative feedback.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Midterm test (40%), end-of-term test (40%), written assignments (20%).
Grading: 90% - 1
80% - 2
70% - 3
60% - 4
59% - 5 (fail)

Students must pass at least one of the tests (=60% or more) in order to pass the course.

Examination topics

Both tests and the assignments will be based on the topics covered in class.
