Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Course work is based on different genres of texts both in German and in Spanish. The various collected texts serve as a basis for the course. These will be handed out during the semester or made available on the e-learning platform, after registration of the student by the teacher.

Assessment and permitted materials

Immanent course grading: grade based on the semester performance. Regular attendance is prerequisite for assessing the student’s performance. Continuous active in-class participation and written exams during the semester as well as a written final exam in the last week of the semester.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Achievement of translatory basic competence by contrastive work with texts, from simple to medium-difficult ones, of various genres in Spanish or German. By considering various topics in Spanish and Latin American culture, the course offers the possibility to make cultural, idiomatic, and lexicalic comparisons.

Examination topics

In the context of this course, Spanish serves partly as target language and partly as source language. Written texts by the students will be presented orally, contrasted with other text productions and subsequently commented upon.

Reading list

Will be announced in the course and on the e-learning platform at the beginning of the semester.
