Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Presentations: to present your viewpoint on a controversial issue by defending an argument in a way that is appropriate in a semi-public setting and covers all important aspects in a stringent and convincing manner.
Contributions from the audience: to make public statements, expressing your opinions politely, constructively and concisely.

Assessment and permitted materials

Each presentation will be assessed. In class participation is therefore essential as well as the final exam will determine the final grade.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

It will be our goal for each individual to improve their own personal oral expresseion. By using new words and expressions as well as speaking openily in class each student will improve their skills.

Examination topics

For each of our discussions students will prepare brief presentations of (preferably opposing) viewpoints on a topic. These will be followed by a general discussion.
