Aims, contents and method of the course

Contents: Consecutive Interpreting II course, German into English only. Students will build on the skills they have acquired in previous courses and interpret a variety of speeches of medium difficulty based on real-life assignments. A pass in Consecutive Interpreting 1 is a prerequisite for this course.

Assessment and permitted materials

Assessment: active participation and regular attendance required. Students' performance will be assessed throughout the course, and a final examination may be held.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Aims: to develop consecutive interpreting techniques (listening comprehension, notetaking, conversion and delivery). By the end of the course students should be able to interpret a 4-5-minute speech of medium difficulty.

Examination topics

Method: Development of notetaking skills, memory exercises, fluent and articulate delivery in English; intensive practice using real and improvised material, with and without preparation
