Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Consecutive interpreting from German into English, Level I. Intensive course for students who have passed the basic interpreting skills course. A pass in Konsekutivdolmetschen I Englisch-Deutsch would also be an advantage. Students will develop their skills in interpreting from German into English in a variety of realistic situations.
Assessment and permitted materials
aktive Mitarbeit und durchgehende Präsenz erforderlich, laufende Leistungskontrolle und gegebenenfalls mündliche Prüfung.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Acquisition and development of practical consecutive skills and familiarisation with a variety of interpreting situations and contexts, preparation strategies, development of rhetorical skills.
Examination topics
Interpreting interviews, simple opening and welcome speeches and speeches on general topics, some of which will be prepared and made by the students. Developing and improving a note-taking system. Feedback on students' performance will be given by the lecturer as well as the other students.
