Consecutive interpreting from German into English, Level 2. Intensive course. It is recommended that students complete the basic interpreting skills course "Basiskompentenzen Dolmetschen" before enrolling for other interpreting courses. Students who do not attend the first class and do not send an apology will be deregistered to make room for students on the waiting list.

Aims, contents and method of the course

Consecutive interpreting from German into English, Level 2. Intensive course. It is also recommended that students complete a Level 1 interpreting course before enrolling in this one. Students will develop their skills in interpreting from German into English in a variety of realistic situations.

Assessment and permitted materials

active participation and full attendance required, ongoing monitoring of performance and possibly an oral examination

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Acquisition and development of practical interpreting skills and introduction to a variety of interpreting situations and contexts, preparation strategies, development of public speaking skills.

Examination topics

Interpreting interviews and intermediate-level speeches on general topics, some of which will be prepared and made by the students. Developing and improving a note-taking system. Feedback on the students' performance will be given by the instructor and other students.
